In 2021, Toyota, in partnership with Toyota Tsusho, announced the new Liberty location of its battery manufacturing plant with an initial investment of $1.29 billion. On Wednesday August 31, 2022 Toyota invested another 2.5 Billion into the Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC) facility making its total investment a whopping $3.8 billion and providing the area with approximately 2,100 new jobs! This facility will produce batteries for hybrid electric vehicles and battery electric vehicles and take Toyota one step closer to its goal of carbon neutrality by the year 2035!
