Only 2,500 Corolla 60th Anniversary Editions Are Coming to the U.S.
Toyota didn't simply add a commemorative badge to a standard Corolla. The 60th Anniversary Special Edition starts with the Corolla Hybrid SE and receives its own combination of exterior and interior details. Exclusive 60th Anniversary badging replaces the usual SE badging, while 18-inch machined alloy wheels with a black finish give the anniversary model a distinct look.
There are just two exterior color choices: Ice Cap and Supersonic Red. That red is particularly notable because the color is exclusive to the 60th Anniversary Special Edition and marks its first appearance on the Corolla sedan. Inside, Toyota adds Black and Red Sport Fabric seat inserts, 60th Anniversary door sills and commemorative floor mats. A 10.5-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen also comes standard. With only 2,500 planned for the entire country, this won't be another Corolla configuration you're likely to see everywhere.
Why Make the 60th Anniversary Corolla a Hybrid?
Toyota could have based its anniversary model on several Corolla grades. It chose the Hybrid SE. The 2027 Corolla Hybrid pairs a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with Toyota Hybrid System 5 and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. The system produces 138 net combined horsepower, while Toyota estimates up to 53 city/46 highway/50 combined MPG for the Hybrid LE FWD and Hybrid XLE.
Hybrid shoppers aren't limited to the anniversary model, either. The 2027 lineup includes Hybrid LE, Hybrid SE and Hybrid XLE grades, and Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive is available on Hybrid LE and Hybrid SE. Technology varies by grade, with an 8-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen standard and a 10.5-inch display available on SE and Hybrid SE and standard on XSE, Hybrid XLE and the anniversary model.
